A gymnast at Southern Connecticut State University is dead following a training accident at the New Haven campus. Melanie Coleman suffered a spinal injury when she fell off the bars during practice last Friday, and she passed away on Sunday. Coleman was a 20-year-old junior from Milford, where she was an all state gymnast and team captain at Jonathan Law High School. Southern gymnastics coach Mary Fredericks says they are heartbroken and stunned byColeman's death.
