Close to 6,000 families on Chicago’s South Side are getting some GOOD news. Several local churches, including Trinity United Church of Christ, teamed up with the nonprofit RIP Medical Debt to wipe out more than $5-million in medical bills.
The churches raised $38,000 for the cause and bought the debt for pennies on the dollar. Each of the 5,888 families who were part of the generosity owed an average of just over $900.
