Hundreds of people are stepping up to help a seven-year-old girl complete her bucket list after she was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. Lee Jenkins says his daughter, Laia,has been diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) and there’s no cure and survival rates are low, so her family is doing everything they can to make the time they have left with her as special as possible.
Laia is starting radiation treatments, but doctors have only given her about a year to live. Her parents asked what she dreams of doing, and her bucket list includes taking a trip to Disney and riding a pony, so they’re doing their best to make it happen for her. A
Just Giving crowdfunding campaign has been set up to help make Laia’s dreams come true and in the last few days more than 550 people have donated over $15,000.
“I don’t know how to put into words how much I appreciate what people have done for us,” Jenkins says. “They made us hopeful and that has been passed on to Laia – it’s had such a good impact already.”
