A Man Who Beat Cancer Twice Hits The Lottery

Some people say they're feeling lucky while other's actually go out and prove that they are. For one man in Oregon, he defied the odds by beating cancer not just once, but twice in his life. He also just hit the lottery in his state for $4.6 million dollars.

Stu MacDonald of Bend, Oregon is definitely lucky and is now $4.6 million richer after winning the state’s Megabucks jackpot.

“I am a very lucky guy,” MacDonald said. “I have survived cancer twice and here I am. This is amazing," he added.

MacDonald said each time he would go out to purchase his ticket every week, his wife, Claudia, would tell him, “get the winning ticket.” Only this last time she didn't mention it to him. So he went and played the quick pick anyway.

MacDonald chose to take his lottery winnings in one lump sum, which was worth $2.3 million. After taxes, he took home $1.56 million.
