Skyler Smith was riding home with her mother after the first day of school when she saw a little girl walking home alone on the side of the highway in Union Township, Ohio. Skyler felt like something wasn’t right and noticed the girl looked scared, but she knew she couldn’t invite her into their car to ride with strangers, so she told her mom she wanted to get out and she walked the girl home.
The six-year-old girl is a first-grader at Summerside Elementary School and her parents say she was supposed to be put on a bus to get home, and shouldn’t have had to walk the 25-minute, one-mile trek alone. Her parents are grateful Skyler stepped in to help their daughter make it home safely.
