Daily Do Good: Son Flies Vietnam Vet Dad’s Remains Home After 52 Years

It’s been 52 years since Air Force Colonel Roy A. Knight, Jr. was declared dead during the Vietnam War, after his jet was shot down and burst into flames. But his remains were not identified until this year, so now his son, Bryan Knight, is finally getting to bring his dad back home.

Bryan is a pilot for Southwest Airlines and flew his father’s remains to Dallas Love Field Airport, where his dad received an impressive greeting. Journalist Jackson Proskow was there to witness the “incredible moment” and shared it onTwitter.

“The gate agent was very emotional as he told the story over the intercom,” he writes, adding that American Flags were handed out to everyone at the gate. “The entire terminal has come to watch this arrival. The entire airport fell silent.”
