Macy's Removes Plates After Facing Backlash for Promoting "Body Shaming"

A set of plates that manufacturers probably thought were cute have just been pulled from Macy's after complaints they promoted eating disorders. The plates featured smaller and smaller circles, with the smallest circle labeled "skinny jeans," one larger labeled "favorite jeans," and the biggest labled "mom jeans." The plates, by a brand called Pourtions, were promoted as a way to offer “helpful — and hilarious — visual cues” about portion size, adding that they would “spice up your dinner table, and your conversation." Some folks online suggested the plates promoted a "toxic message," while one person noted, "These expectations can actually kill someone, and I know someone it has."
