A mom who skipped her own college graduation to see her son graduate at the same time from a different college was surprised with a special moment at his ceremony. Sharonda Wilson passed on going to her commencement at Ferris State University so she could watch her son, Stephan, walk the stage at Central Michigan University’s graduation ceremony, and when CMU’s President Bob Davies heard about it, he contacted Ferris State’s President David Eisler. They worked it out and Wilson was given her cap and received her degree during her son’s ceremony.
It was a touching moment for both mom and son and the crowd gave her a standing ovation as she moved her tassel with the other grads. Stephan says, “That tops any other moment I have ever shared with my mother.”
