An eight-year-old kid in the U.K. is proving age is just a number and it can’t stop you from doing what you’re driven to do by participating in a triathlon to raise money for the homeless.Gabriel Wakefield’s desire to help the less fortunate started when he became aware of the issue of homelessness in the U.K. through school projects and he wanted to do his part to help.
“I think it’s unfair that some people don’t have homes and some people do,” the boy explains. “So I decided to do my own triathlon to raise money to help.”
After learning about challenges people do to raise money for charity, Gabriel and his family came up with some things he could do and they landed on the triathlon, where he’ll cycle, bike, and canoe. “It’s something that came straight from his heart,” his mom Melanie explains. “He’s a very kind-hearted lad and we feel very proud.”
