A driver made a 400-mile detour so a stranger could have one last visit with her dying mom in the U.K. Ron and Sharleen Gillies were driving from their home in Scotland to Cambridge when they had a car accident and they might not have made it to say their final goodbye, but a good samaritan stopped to see if he could help.
Dean Moore saw the couple on the side of the road and when he heard that Mrs. Gillies’ mother was in her final hours, he insisted on driving them the last 200 miles of their trip. He spent three and a half hours bringing them there, then stopped for a quick bathroom break and turned around and drove the 200 miles back home, after refusing any money. And he says his good deed was just “what anyone else would have done.”
Ron and Sharleen made it just in time to see her mother for a few hours before she passed away the following day. And if not for the kindness of this stranger, they probably wouldn’t have had the chance at all. Ron says, “I just can’t put into words what that lad did for us.”
