Anonymous Winner Comes Forward to Claim $1.5 Billion Mega Millions Jackpot

Patience is definitely paying off for one South Carolinian. The SC Education Lottery announced yesterday that the winner of October's record one-and-a-half billion dollar Mega Millions jackpot finally came forward. The winner told lottery officials they showed up at KC Mart in Simpsonville that fateful day and bought the winning Quick Pick ticket after letting someone else buy their ticket first. The anonymous winner will take home a one-time lump sum payment of over 877-Million dollars.

However, if they had collected the lump-sum payment of 877-million dollars right away and put it in a savings account, an investment analyst estimates they could have collected about six million dollars more by now. The analyst also told the Greenville News recently that if the money had been invested in the stock market, it could have generated an extra 20 million dollars by now.
