Former President George H.W. Bush’s service dog, Sully, is now training for his next mission. The beloved two-year-old Labrador is going to start working with veterans at Walter Reed National Medical Center in Maryland at the end of the month.
The famous dog was named after Captain Chesley Sullenberger, he’s the one who landed his plane on the Hudson River, saving everyone on board. Now Sully will be supporting vets with everyday tasks, helping to ease symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and providing comfort.
“He’s going to make people smile every day,” says Sully’s trainer, Valerie Cramer. “He has got this fantastic trot, and his ears just flap about, and you just can’t not smile.”
