Women Sleep Better With Dogs By Their Side Instead of Human Partners

Women get a better night's sleep and feel more secure if they have a pet dog in their bed, according to a new study.  The Journal of the International Society of Anthrozoology collected data from 962 adult women.  Of those adult women, 55-percent shared the bed with at least one dog, 31-percent with at least one cat, and 57-percent with a human partner.  Researchers discovered dogs disrupted the owners sleep less and were associated with stronger feelings of comfort and security.  Cats, however, were found to be just as disruptive as human partners and were associated with weaker feelings of comfort and security and than both dog and human bed partners.
