In a move forecasters didn’t expect, an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane is barreling toward the Florida Panhandle.
The National Hurricane Center, this morning, says Hurricane Michael has maximum sustained winds of 140 miles an hour and is less than 140 miles south-southwest of Panama City. Forecasters are warning of life-threatening storm surge, hurricane-force winds and heavy rainfall along the northeastern Gulf coast.
Florida Governor Rick Scott and the National Weather Service are warning that the monster storm will bring catastrophic conditions and for people to get out now. Michael is expected to make landfall between three and six p.m. today.
If you’re wondering why the storm hadn’t been talked about for days, it’s because the storm only developed over the weekend.
