Weather Channel Defends Reporter Accused of Exaggerating Hurricane Wind

A simple live shot of a Weather Channel meteorologist in the field during Hurricane Florence is beyond viral.

Mike Seidel was reporting from the field during the tropical storm over the weekend and appeared to be struggling against a fierce wind. His pant legs were flapping as he leaned into the wind struggling to maintain his position. Then two guys walked by no problem in the background.

Naturally, social media skewered the longtime natural disaster reporter over his “fake weather.” That’s when the network released a statement saying "It's important to note that the 2 individuals in the background are walking on concrete, and Mike Seidel is trying to maintain his footing on wet grass, after reporting on-air until 1:00 AM ET this morning and is undoubtedly exhausted."

The damage is done regardless of the explanation or the truth. As many noted online, they can’t trust in news anymore.
