For the first time in 80 year, Massachusetts has had a fatal shark attack. Authorities in Cape Cod, Massachusetts 26-year-old Arthur Medici died from a shark attack Saturday.
Witnesses say he and a friend were boogie boarding about 30-yards off shore at Wellfleet around noon when Medici was bitten. He was pulled from the water and given first aid – including CPR. Sadly, he later died at a local hospital. Another man was injured in a Cape Cod shark attack last month.
“It's like being struck by lightning," says local surfer Richard Bessler."You hear about it. It doesn't seem real. You kind of imagine it'll never be you. It's kind of slowly sinking in that the danger is quite real."
- As for what’s going on – you’ll recall that a 61-year-old man was bitten in the area last month – officials point to a large grey seal population.
