First Mosquitoes Tested Positive For West Nile Virus In Our Area

A state agency focusing on West Nile transmission is reporting that the mosquito-spread virus has been found in Schuylkill County this week.  Testing sample information released yesterday confirms skeeters carrying the germ were found in Pottsville City and Schuylkill Haven Borough.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that only one-in-five people who contract the virus show symptoms, but for those who do it can mean a fever and other ill reactions.  About one in 150 people on average who get West Nile virus face serious or fatal illness.
