The Boy Scouts Are Changing Their Names After 108 Years

The Boy Scouts will go through a name change. With girls becoming Scouts the organization is changing its name to reflect the fact that they are no longer just for Boys. Effective February 2019 the new name for the Boy Scouts program will be Scouts BSA. The parent organization will still be Boy Scouts of America. The Cub Scouts, which will retain its name, has already started admitting girls. Scouts BSA will let girls join starting next year. Girl Scout leaders say they were blindsided by the move and will start an aggressive campaign to recruit and retain girls in the program.
