A Pokémon fan whose father says he lost his most prized card in a scam at a San Francisco event is getting an outpouring of support from the collecting community. The boy had reportedly spent years saving and trading to obtain a valuable Rayquaza card before an adult allegedly took advantage of him during a trade.
After his father shared the story online, collectors began offering replacement cards, packs and other gifts. Popular Pokémon YouTuber Deep Pocket Monster was among those who reached out and offered to help.
The card in question has since been returned to the boy, and the trader disputed the father’s account of what happened. The boy’s dad later thanked everyone for the response, saying the kindness reminded him that most people are good.
