Area School Calls Cop On Down Syndrome Girl Pointing “Finger Gun”

A Pennsylvania school is serious about its zero tolerance policy.

Serious enough to call police on a six-year-old girl with down syndrome. Mom Maggie Gaines says Margot got frustrated with her teacher and made a finger-gun gesture saying 'I shoot you.' Mom says she understood everything except calling the police. She called it ridiculous and asked the principal not to.

The incident happened in November, but has gained traction due to a school board meeting and public comments. The school defended its decision, but the district is now said to be evaluating its policy.

Critics of zero tolerance say schools are increasingly involving police in school matters.
