Two Mississippi Men Busted Trying To Cash In Fake $100K Lottery Ticket

Odis Latham and Russell Sparks

Two men in Mississippi were arrested after they tried to cash a doctored lottery ticket. Odis Latham, 47, and Russell Sparks, 48, walked into the Mississippi Lottery office in Flowood with a scratch-off ticket they claimed was worth $100,000. Officials were able to quickly determine the ticket was a loser and said that the men had glued the winning numbers onto the ticket.

Workers stalled the pair until the police arrived. They were taken into custody and charged with conspiracy to commit and uttering a counterfeit instrument over $1,000. Latham was also charged with false ID information. The men were taken to Rankin County Jail, where they are being held without bond.

Trying to cash a counterfeit lottery ticket can result in a 20-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $50,000.
