Daily Do Good: Boy Surprises Bone Marrow Donor Sister With Dream Honeymoon

Jack Santos was an 18-year-old kid getting ready for college when a checkup revealed he had aplastic anemia, a rare, life-threatening blood disease. He needed a life-saving bone marrow transplant to survive and finding a match can be a challenge. But Jack’s siblings got tested and his older sister, Shelby, was the perfect match.

Last September, Shelby saved her brother’s life by becoming his bone marrow donor and they’re both doing well and are healthy today. So when Make-A-Wish offered Jack a wish to fulfill, he used it to thank his sister for her selfless act. She’s engaged to her fiancé, Garrett, and Jack asked for his wish to be a honeymoon for the couple.

Jack surprised his sister with a five-night luxury vacation at any Sandals Resorts of her choice. Shelby says she’s “beyond grateful” that she could help her brother and for him using his wish for her.
