Borough of Wyomissing Memorial Day Parade, and Ceremony in the Park 2019

The annual Borough of Wyomissing Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will take place Saturday, May 25th, 2019 , beginning and ending in the Wyomissing Hills Memorial Park off of Woodland Road in the Borough.The Parade kicks off at 9:45 AM, continues through Borough streets, and is followed by a Memorial Ceremony in the Park.

The Grand Marshall for the Parade is life-long Borough Resident David Y. Bausher.Mr. Bausher has served the Wyomissing Borough since the early 1950’s when he worked cutting grass at Happy Hollow.He became a Police Officer in 1957 and served as Police Chief from 1973 through 1991. He served as Borough Manager from 1993 to 2006 and as Mayor from 2015 to 2017. His community service also includes being a Volunteer in the Fire Company from 1958 to 1973 and serving as Fire Chief from 1966 to 1973.Joining Mr. Bausher are Wyomissing Gold Star Mother Mrs. Charlene Flannery, State, County and Local elected officials, military vehicles, Veterans from several wars as well as military personnel who are in current active service, Cub and Boy Scouts, children and groups from the community, The Skyline Drive Corvette Club and a number of marching bands.

Following the Parade, a Memorial Ceremony in the Park includes the singing of the National Anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, an invocation, and ceremonial flag folding and presentation.Sergeant Byler will address the crowd, memorial wreaths will be presented by Mrs. Flannery and members of the Armed Forces, and Taps will be played, followed by a rifle salute that will conclude the ceremony.
