Local Teacher Who Gave Kids Pancakes During PSSA Testing NOT Fired

Kyle Byler will keep his job as an eighth-grade social studies teacher after he says he was told he would be fired for making student a whole-grain pancake during PSSA testing last week. The teacher at Hand Middle School says he made one whole-grain pancake for each student on an electric griddle for each student. He was questioned by the school's principal and soon after called into a meeting with the school's administrators. Byler was suspended without pay on April 10th and says he was told he was likely to be fired by the school board at board meeting last night. However, the school district said there was never any "dismissal action" on the school board's agenda. About 100 concerned residents still showed up to the board meeting to show their support for Byler. He was expected to be back at work today.
