It’s been six years since Mary Keaulana-Riotutar moved to Laredo, Texas from Hawaii to go to college on a volleyball scholarship. And because airfare is so expensive, she hasn’t been back since. But a group of her coworkers from Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen pitched in to surprise Mary with money for a plane ticket home.
Mary posted a video on Facebook of her teary reaction to the generous gift from her coworkers and thanked them for sending her back to Hawaii. She explains that she misses her mom, her family, the food, the aloha and EVERYTHING and says that this is the biggest blessing she’s ever received.
"There are no words to express my gratitude,” Mary writes. “Thank you my cheddars family for sending me home to my beautiful momma.”
