Local School District Suspends Students For Walking Out Wednesday

Students in thousands of schools around the country took part in a 17-minute 'walk out'... in memory of the victims of the Parkland, Florida school shooting -- and to advocate for tougher gun laws. Now 21 students at one Berks County school have been punished. The kids walked out of Brandywine Heights High School at 10 AM Wednesday, before a scheduled safety symposium took place inside. We're told they have been suspended for one day for violating the school's code of conduct. The school told 69 News it opted for holding a symposium instead of the walkout because it thought the meeting would be more meaningful to students.
