Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue (DVGRR) will hold a Shelter Behavior Workshop, presented by nationally renowned trainers, Nicole Skeehan and Dana Vachon, CPDT-KA. The two-day workshop will be held Sat., April 7 and Sun., April 8, 2018 at DVGRR’s Golden Gateway campus, 60 Vera Cruz Road, Reinholds, PA.
The workshop is designed to help shelter staff, volunteers, rescue workers, and dog trainers learn how to create a behavior program for an animal shelter or rescue. Topics will include identifying top five behavior problems and how to fix them, using evaluations as a predictor of behavior, kennel enrichment, facilitating positive play groups, canine body language and safe handling, engaging and supporting volunteers, and more.
This workshop has been approved for 19 CEUs by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. Registration is $199 and includes snacks and lunch on both days. Early bird registration is $180 (ends 3/9/18), and organizations registering three or more participants will receive a discount ($170/person). Additionally, DVGRR has made arrangements for discounted accommodations at Comfort Inn in Denver, located a short distance from DVGRR. (Participants must mention DVGRR to get the discounted rate.)
