Daily Do Good: HS Football Players Rescue Puppies From Freezing Weather

Some high school football players in North Bergen, New Jersey spent their New Year’s Eve doing something exciting and different this year. The athletes from North Bergen High volunteered to work with the police and the New Jersey Humane Society to rescue three puppies who were abandoned in the frigid temperatures.

It might not have been the fun-filled holiday they were expecting, but after 12 hours spent rounding the three shivering nine-month-old rottweiler mix puppies, it has a happy ending. Now the dogs are getting checked out and will soon be available for adoption.

"It's very impressive that all these high schoolers came together and took the time to do this,"says Kaley Nugent, marketing and communications coordinator for St. Hubert's Animal Center. She says the puppies were out in the brutally cold weather for a few days, but they’re doing well now.
