Daily Do Good: Male Canadian Politicians Wear Heels To Fund Raise For Women

Some Canadian men stepped out in pink high heels for a good cause recently. Dozens of members of Parliament wore the fancy footwear as part of the Hope in High Heels campaign, which encourages men and boys to walk in the shoes as a show of support to end violence against women.

This was the eighth year for the walk and men who participate also collect pledges that support women’s shelters and crisis services for women and children who are victims of abuse. These guys might be in some pain after wearing the heels around, but they do it with a smile because it’s for a good cause.

“The message is simple — we will not end violence against women and children if boys and men are not included in the conversation and part of the solution,” Parliament member Karina Gould explains in a statement. “Having this event in Ottawa encourages all members of Parliament, senators and their staff to show Canadians that we are united in this fight.”
