World Series Spectator Sees Own Apartment on Fire From Seat

A man attending Game 2 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium took in an additional spectacle when he noticed he could see his apartment -- and it was on fire.

Firefighters responded to a three-story residence in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, near the stadium, to drop water from a helicopter and extinguish flames erupting from an upper-floor balcony.

The fire department said the helicopter was already in the area to combat a 2-acre grass fire that broke out near the stadium during the eighth inning of the Houston Astros' victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Firefighters said it took about 45 minutes to put out the grass fire and about 20 minutes to extinguish the apartment fire.

No one was injured in either incident and firefighters said the resident of the apartment wasn't home at the time -- he was at Dodger Stadium to watch the game. They said the man could see the flames at his residence from his seat.
