Some unsuspecting diners at an Applebee’s have been happy to find that a stranger paid their check for them. A mystery couple has been quietly picking up the tab for customers at the Washington, Pennsylvania Applebee’s and they want to remain anonymous as they do their good deeds.
The restaurant’s assistant manager, Bernie Lewis, knows the identity of the generous couple, but he’s sworn to secrecy. Server Samantha Powell recently had them pay the tab for a birthday party for 16 people!
Powell says she knows who the couple is also and that they own a local business. She says the man once told her the reason he pays other people’s checks is because, “I grew up poor and now I’m not.”
