A new program offered at Montreal Children’s Hospital is providing childcare for kids whose siblings are in the NICU there. The Just for Kids Foundation’s Sibling Park offers childcare for parents, so they can bond with their newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit.
It allows families to visit the hospital together and then parents can go spend time with their sick little ones while their older children play and get homework help, with mom and dad not too far away.
“It’s a free service being offered to overwhelmed parents,” explains Just for Kid’s president Rochelle Silverman. And it’s open on weekends and afternoons, outside school hours “to focus on the often overlooked healthy siblings of these tiny patients.”
