Daily Do Good: World War II Pilot Takes To The Sky One More Time

A 91-year-old World War II veteran’s wish came true as he got to soar the skies again recently. Sam Northway served as a pilot and seaman during World War II and he was a pilot during the Korean and Vietnam wars, too. So when he wanted to get back into a plane once more, folks worked to make it happen.

Northway’s flight came together thanks to the folks at Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care with some help from the Commemorative Air Force. And he got to feel the thrill of his passion once more, far from the ground below.

"It means the world to me,” Northway’s daughter Judy says. “The last year for him hasn't been real great health-wise, and so for him to be able to do this is such a treat for him and he deserves it greatly.”
