A class of fifth graders who had been talking over FaceTime with a U.S. Army Sergeant serving in Afghanistan were treated to a surprise visit from him. When they were supposed to be on their last virtual visit, Sergeant David Mulcahy walked into their Queensbury, New York classroom.
The kids were making welcome home cards for him at the time and were so excited to meet Mulcahy in person. Student Alex Coombes says, “It felt good that he was back and nothing had happened to him.”
Mulcahy says the kids were “gracious enough to send me and my guys candy, socks, and letters of encouragement. And he adds that he came to meet them in person because they “did a lot for me and my guys over there, so it was the least I could do.”
