After a long 10-hour shift, Officer Gbolahan Fadeyi stopped at a Texas chicken restaurant to eat. Employees told him that an elderly woman had been sitting there for the last four hours and asked him to check on her.
It turns out, her electric wheelchair had broken and she didn’t have another way to get back to her apartment, eight blocks away. So the quick thinking officer called the station and two other officers delivered a wheelchair for her.
A roookie officer pushed her all the way home and other officers followed, just to make sure she made it inside safely. “You can’t teach officers to police with their hearts,” Sgt. Patrick Swanton of the Waco Police Department explains. “They went out of their way to help this woman. And we couldn’t be more proud of them.”
