Second Cat Found Abused Within A Week In Berks

A second abused cat has been found in Berks County. First a cat, now named Masiey, was found doused in gasoline, tied up in a trash bag and was almost crushed in a garbage truck.  Masiey was found and taken to the Humane Society of Berks County where she was placed in a foster home to recover.

Now within the same week,, the Animal Rescue League of Berks County had a cat turned in to them that was also abused.  This cat, now named Churchill, was found near Church Street in Reading being tormented by kids.  Churchill has been burned and spray painted purple. Sarah McKillip, ARL's shelter manager, says Churchill "is a sweetheart and loves people. And if you ask me he has every right to hate mankind, but he doesn't."

He is currently recovering at the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, but is in need of long-term foster home to care for him.  If you are interested in fostering Churchill, please contact Julie Reber at ARL- jreber@berksarl.org - and find out more details.

If you know details about who may have done this to Churchill or to Masiey, please contact your local authorities or the Animal Rescue League of Berks County.
