DDG: Groom-To-Be Saves Up To Rent Rockefeller Ice Rink For Epic Proposal

On the evening of December 6th, in the middle of the ice rink below the iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree Philip Cho proposed to his girlfriend, Heather Nguyen. The 74-foot-tall Norway Spruce, adorned with 50-thousand multicolored lights and a Swarovski crystal star, served as the backdrop for the surprise proposal. The couple, who’ve been together for six years, were skating at The Rink at Rockefeller Center before the big moment unfolded.

Unbeknownst to Heather, Philip bought a “Special Moments” package which gave the couple five minutes alone on the rink. After an announcement tells skaters to clear the ice, he “asks” a worker if they can get a couple of pictures on the empty rink. Heather gets nervous as she realizes they’re the last two people still on the ice and then the lights shine down on them and her favorite song, Taylor Swift’s "Enchanted," starts playing. Philip pulls her to him and points to their friends and family holding signs that spell out “WILL YOU MARRY ME?”

The carefully orchestrated proposal took him nearly two months to plan and set him back $1,650, but it was all worth it when Heather screamed “YES!” The future bride and groom, who met on Tinder, are considering eloping in the city and then having a large wedding ceremony in Nguyen’s home state, South Carolina, next year.
