DDG: Missing Girl Found Safe By Drone After Sleepwalking Into Woods

A Louisiana girl who went missing from her home was found safe in the woods near her home just over 24 hours later. Peyton Saintignan was last seen while getting ready for bed around 10 p.m. on September 14th and a search began immediately in the surrounding wooded area after she was reported missing. Several law enforcement agencies and hundreds of volunteers worked together to find the 10-year-old.

They got some help from drones equipped with thermal imaging, provided by Drone Management Services, which came from Arkansas to assist in the search. Eventually, the drones found Peyton curled up asleep on the ground on September 15th around 11 p.m., about a mile and a half from home. It turns out, she had been sleepwalking - something she’d done before, but it was the first time she left the house - and got lost in the woods.

Despite a night in the woods alone, Peyton was fine and had only suffered some mosquito bites. ”It's truly a miracle that she was unharmed," says Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker. “I can’t tell you how thrilled we are to have a happy ending to this.”
