Daily Do Good: Boy “Buried Up To His Head” Rescued From PA Grain Bin

In Adams County, Pennsylvania, a child found himself in a dangerous situation, trapped in a grain bin filled with corn. Emergency crews rushed to the scene in Latimore Township on Monday afternoon and discovered the child buried up to his head in corn, although he was still conscious and breathing.

Within about 30 minutes, first responders from multiple agencies working together managed to free the boy. After the successful rescue, he was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for a medical checkup.

An hour after this event, the Dover Township Fire Department highlighted on social media their recent participation in a grain rescue class. They also mentioned the specialized equipment they have for just such events. “While not used often,” the department writes, “This training and equipment is imperative for a chance at a successful and safe rescue.”
