DDG: Teen Beats Cancer, Donates Her Make-A-Wish To Kids Fighting Cancer

When Gauri Jayganesh was 10-years-old and battling cancer, she was granted a wish by Make-A-Wish America, but for some reason never used it. Now 18 and cancer free, Jayganesh is heading off to college and has decided to give her unclaimed wish to the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Santa Clara, California, where she received treatment as a child.

The generous gift will be used by the hospital to get new iPads for scheduling and learning, therapeutic books, and other health-related tools for kids in treatment. The teen says that the items will help the young patients to understand what they’re going through. "We have a couple of books that teach them about what the cancer is,” she adds, “or different scans that they might have to go through and chemotherapy itself."

With her donation, Jayganesh hopes to take the mystery out of the cancer treatment process. She wants to make the journey less intimidating for these young patients and help them in their recovery.
