A middle school teacher in Port Orange, Florida was arrested Tuesday for blaring music in his room as a way to disrupt students in nearby rooms while they were taking the Florida Statewide Assessments test. Martin Reese refused to turn off the music when the principal told him to stop and reportedly caused a disturbance in the hall. Why did he do it? Reese said it would give students a chance to take the tests again and have that day’s testing thrown out; he streamed what he was doing on Instagram for just over 50 minutes, talking about student’s home lives, equating the pressure being placed on them with slavery and talking about his marijuana use. He’s been charged with causing a disturbance and disorderly conduct.
