Officials with PennDOT and the PA Turnpike say they are beginning enforcement of its statewide Automated Work Zone Speed Enforcement program next week. The program will use vehicle-mounted systems to record motorists exceeding speed limits through the work zones, with warnings and fines handed out to offenders. Since 1970, 134 workers have died in work zones on the P-A Turnpike and along PennDOT highways.
