Daily Do Good: Nurses Create Waterproof Sleeping Bags For Homeless

Some nurses from Tampa General Hospital in Florida have found a new way to help the homeless in their community. They’re using the sterile wrap used to protect surgical instruments to create sleeping bags for homeless people.

"I see all these sterile wrappers that we just throw away, so I thought, what a cool recycling initiative to help the homeless," says Nicole Hubbard, a Nurse Anesthetist. "The beauty about it is they conserve heat and they're waterproof."

So far, they’ve made about 100 of these specialized sleeping bags that will be given out to the homeless in the Tampa Bay area.
