With the upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8th, many are looking for safe eclipse glasses to watch the rare event. Safety is paramount when it comes to viewing the eclipse, because using improper eye protection can cause severe, even permanent, damage to your eyes. It's crucial to ensure that your eclipse-viewing glasses are ISO-certified and from verified manufacturers.

To help make sure you’re able to safely view the once-in-a-lifetime celestial event, several retailers and brands are offering free or discounted glasses to the public, ensuring everyone can witness the phenomenon safely.

Here are a few businesses where you can pick up some eclipse-viewing glasses:

  • Warby Parker is giving away ISO-certified glasses at their retail locations nationwide from April 1st to the 8th. (limit: 2 pairs of glasses per family)
  • MyEyeDr is providing free eclipse glasses at 438 participating locations. (One pair per person)
  • Jeni’s Ice Cream will be giving away four pairs of eclipse glasses with purchase of their “Punk Stargonaut collection” flavors online or at their ice cream parlors.

  • Sonic Drive-In is providing free solar eclipse viewing glasses with every purchase of their Blackout Slush Float while supplies last.
  • Moon Pie is selling “MoonPie Solar Eclipse Survival kits” online for $9.99, which include four chocolate mini MoonPies and two pairs of eclipse glasses.
