As actors, musicians, and various other celebrities prepare for the 2024 Met Gala, they may want to brush up on the rules, because if they disregard one of the few requirements during the biggest night in fashion, it may be the last Met Gala they ever attend.

The Met Gala is one of the most-watched fashion events of the year, meticulously organized by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and attended by the biggest names in music and entertainment. Those who pay the hefty price tag will walk up the iconic museum steps as they model impeccably tailored looks fitting each year's theme. While the guest list for each gala may shift and change, there is one way to make sure you won't be invited back, per E! News.

Wintour and Met Gala curator Andrew Bolton sat down with CBS The Morning ahead of the Met Gala last year where they revealed the "no-nos" that could cost someone an invite for a future gala.

So what's off the table? No smoking is allowed and attendees cannot touch the artwork. Some celebs in the past have snuck in a smoke or two, including an instance in 2017 with Madame Web star Dakota Johnson, model Bella Hadid and designer Marc Jacobs, which E! News reports led to the Met reportedly receiving a letter from the New York City Department of Health.

As for who does get an invite, Wintour said it depends on a variety of factors.

"It depends on the year. It depends on the subject of the exhibition. Really, there's no clear answer to that," she said, adding, "We're always interested in trying to reflect a cultural moment, and what we feel is happening at the world in any given time."

Fashionista fans will have to tune in to the 2024 Met Gala on Monday (May 6) to see who all scored the coveted invite and judge how well celebs followed the "Garden of Time" theme as they honor the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute's new exhibition, "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion."
