Daily Do Good: Bride Wants Gifts For Homeless Instead Of Wedding Presents

Instead of a blender and glasses, a Utah bride is asking for shoes and backpacks for homeless students. Rickee Stewart teaches at Copper Hills High School and she wants her wedding guests to donate to students in need instead of buying her gifts for her wedding next month.

Stewart learned that more than 100 students at her school are homeless after she set up a food pantry there. So her registry includes Converse shoes and winter coats, instead of the usual wedding gift requests. And donations have been coming not just from people on the guest list, but also from total strangers who just want to help.

"My hope is that we get to not only have this amazing wedding and start our lives together,” Stewart says, “but that we are able to put some warmth on all of those kids.”
