Listen to Queen on iHeartRadio

A remastered edition of Freddie Mercury's star-studded 1992 tribute concert is set for release on September 3rd.

The new DVD and Blu-ray package features expanded material from the concert hosted by the surviving Queen members in April 1992, months after the singer's death.

Musicians like Robert Plant, David Bowie, George Michael, Annie Lennox and Elton John sang in Mercury's place.  Two more discs will be included in the new package.  One will feature previously unreleased footage of the concerts opening acts, Metallica, Guns N' Roses and Def Leppard.  The third is a 60-minute documentary on the memorable benefit show, including footage and photos from rehearsals.

Proceeds from the sales go towards the Mercury Phoenix Trust, which helps fight AIDS worldwide.  The September 3rd release date is two days before what would have been Mercury's 67th birthday.
