ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (970 WFLA) - It's going to be a while before anything happens with the St. Pete pier, but they are making progress after several sessions where residents were invited to tell the city what they wanted in a pier.

More than 2,000 St. Pete residents gave input recently on what they wanted to see in a pier. Now mayor Kriseman is hoping to get a number of designs so they can choose the best option.

“The beauty is there is so many different possibilities for what the design could potentially be but we wanted to take it step by step and try and make sure we don’t make the same mistakes this go around that happened the first time. So what I wanted to make sure is that we were very clear on whatever the design is that it functions in a way that the community wants it to function,” Kriseman said.

Kriseman says residents need to realize they are not going to do everything everybody wants with the money allotted.
